HVAC systems with underfloor air distribution are frequently used in office buildings with raised floor. In this case particular attention must be paid to the design of the air inlet and outlet layout; the air velocity and temperature fields must be very carefully controlled to avoid uncomfortable conditions. CFD models can be very useful in the design process to analyse the influence of different parameters and different solutions for the air supply inside rooms. Numerical models must always be assessed in order to correctly predict the temperature and air velocity fields. In this paper a comparison between experimental and numerical results is presented in the case of floor air diffusers in a typical furnished office.
