This paper presents some reflections under development at IUAV University of Venice on how to teach fashion design in a university context. It explores the prospects of the concept “learned in Italy” in relation to the research possibilities it appears to open up and it investigates the value that fashion design at Italian universities may represent for the world of Italian fashion. The perspective of Learned in Italy makes it possible to explore immaterial aspects of fashion production, considering the human and relational factors of Made in Italy—embodied in the various professional sensibilities and production realities—apart from their minute local and regional scale.

Abstract
This paper presents some reflections under development at IUAV University of Venice on how to teach fashion design in a university context. It explores the prospects of the concept “learned in Italy” in relation to the research possibilities it appears to open up and it investigates the value that fashion design at Italian universities may represent for the world of Italian fashion. The perspective of Learned in Italy makes it possible to explore immaterial aspects of fashion production, considering the human and relational factors of Made in Italy—embodied in the various professional sensibilities and production realities—apart from their minute local and regional scale.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
