ENGLISH Abstract. After the conclusion of the First world war, the cast off and the later retrieval of the North-Italian theatres of war, unfolded by the memory construction process, primed the conceptual transition from a front intended as a coherent and backline related system to a discontinuous collection of mythic, but separated places. This process, which circumscribed some areas and worked them out from the overall system, has a deep influence on our actual manner of looking at the territory. In order to understand the meaning of the multitude of traces still present in Triveneto it is necessary to reconstruct the dense stratification of the relations between those signs: relations between single posting and fortified systems, but also between those systems and a full-front strategy. The sight must continuously change focus and direction, keeping together different kind of question (fortification strategy, weapons technology and infrastructures), different times (war years and centuries of territory modifications) and different scales.
