Analyses of Joseph Kosuth's installation in the Aula baratto at Ca' Foscari university in Venice. The installation is dedicated to Carlo Scarpa and to his interventions in the space in the years 30s and 50s. The different works layered in the space are read through Walter Benjamin's paradigm of the dialectical image and the 'readability' of history through anachronism. Mentioned are also the concept of naturalization by Roland Barthes, the idea of 'alteration' used by Kosuth himself and the tension between opacity and transparency conceived by Louis Marin.
