The itinerary concludes with a space for reflection, an introverted architectural structure accessed by means of a ramp that wraps it, underlining its independence - and almost its isolation - from the context in which it is inserted. Abstract

This is where the Jews of Milan (but also political prisoners) made their departure, from 1943 to 1945, to an "unknown destination", namely the concentration camps and death camps. The project for the Shoah Memoria! conserves the physical traces of those atrocious events, starting with the conveyor originally used to load and unload postai cars, and then put into sinister service in the mid-1940s for the purpose of deportation. After stripping the structure of its plaster, the designers have inserted a series of architectural episodes in the body of the Station of Stacchini, starting from the entrance vestibular where the word "indifference" guides the visitar towards a ramp that spans a two-story space, extending towards the library. Track 21 features four old freight cars; through them, one reaches the wall of names. The itinerary concludes with a space for reflection, an introverted architectural structure accessed by means of a ramp that wraps it, underlining its independence - and almost its isolation - from the context in which it is inserted. A piace to gain greater awareness of what it means to be able to choose your own destination.
