In order to facilitate the interpretation of the complex state of Alcamo seaside, characterized by an apparent homogeneity of urban landscape, which contrasts with the clarity of the orographic system furrowed by valleys perpendicular to the coast, three macro areas are distinguished below. Each group was directed towards a redevelopment strategy for the entire coastal strip, with an in-depth planning for one or more of the following areas: 1. ex Sicilmarmi / ex petrolgas sawmill, 2. Plaia area, 3. Aleccia / Calatubo grove area. The design project outcomes represent ideas and indications for those who will then have to intervene in the area, rather than projects aimed at execution. However, exceeding the expectations of the program, many of the propositions produce visions for the entire municipal area of Alcamo. Several groups have addressed the theme of the “reconstruction of Alcamo Marina’s landscape”, with considerations on a territorial scale, building or “rebuilding” connections with the territory behind the coastal strip, going to the historic center of Alcamo and enhancing the central position of the municipality both with respect to Palermo and Trapani, on the coast, and to Segesta and Gibellina, towards the hinterland, in the Belìce valley. More punctual interventions and experiments were made, even bold sometimes, on the coastal strip and on its abandoned buildings.
