Between sense of time and sense of place : designing, heritage, tourism

Can the architectural project offer new ways of interpreting, reading, and understanding heritage and the patrimonialization process? What are the investigation tools and design actions useful for strengthening the relationships between heritage and context? How can heritage sites best be valorized, while defining ways to sustainably use heritage and actions for its protection? Starting from an idea of heritage seen as a sense of time and a sense of place, this book poses a hypothesis: that the perspective of the project, at architectural, urban and landscape scales, can be taken as an interpretative key through which to analyse potential and critical issues related to the tourist valorization of heritage. A partire da queste domande, il volume raccoglie molti saggi relativi al rapporto tra tempo, spazio e fruizione turistica del patrimonio e presenta numerosi contributi di rilievo, da quello di Ana Luiza Massot Thompson-Flores, direttrice dell'Unesco Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe, a quello di Maria Gravari-Barbas, dell'Université Paris 1, fino a quello di Derek A.R. Moore, direttore presso SOM. Il libro si struttura in diverse sezioni, a loto volta articolate in sottosezioni, che affrontano il tema generale oggetto del volume in rapporto al paesaggio, agli itinerari, alle aree marginali, alle città d'arte, all'archeologia, ai luoghi dell'abbandono, sempre attraverso l'ottica del progetto di architettura e delle strategie di valorizzazione di contesti segnati dalla presenza della storia. Nel volume, oltre che della premessa, sono co-autore di tre contributi intitolati: On the sense of time and place in relation to heritage tourism; Recurring words; Tools, methods and strategies.
