Starting from the concept of the “narrative space”, the contribution offers a critical reading of designed space in the context of interiors, exhibitions, and theatrical settings, with the aim of formulating a reference framework that highlights both specificities and common elements. The design assets inherent to interior design – elements in relation, recipients, environmental purposes, and narrating components – and those of interaction design, related to the experience of space–user action and reaction, spatial interaction, temporal interaction – provide conceptual tools to explore relationships across various design contexts. This approach offers a perspective on the value of the material and experiential dimensions of space, which are fundamental for physical and sensory interaction. Narrative emerges as a shared foundation for the process of sense-making in environments. The integration of narrative subjects with physical components generates peculiar spatial and temporal experiences: linear in interior spaces, cyclical in exhibition spaces, and structured in theatrical settings. Despite digital transition, the material and physical value of space remains essential in qualifying experiences, fostering oriented and conscious interactions.

Abstract
Despite digital transition, the material and physical value of space remains essential in qualifying experiences, fostering oriented and conscious interactions.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
