Castel Pergine (Trentino, Italy) provides a significant case study for exploring the relationship between conservation, adaptive reuse, and community participation in the management of fortified heritage. Since 2018, following its acquisition by the Fondazione CastelPergine ETS through a public fundraising campaign, the castle has become a model of shared cultural governance. Recent restoration works (2022–2026) have combined rigorous historical and material investigations with conservation-oriented interventions based on minimum intervention, compatibility, and reversibility. At the same time, new cultural and public functions have strengthened the site's social role while respecting its historical authenticity. The experience demonstrates how integrated conservation strategies and participatory management can enhance both the long-term preservation and the contemporary relevance of historic fortified architecture.

Abstract
The experience demonstrates how integrated conservation strategies and participatory management can enhance both the long-term preservation and the contemporary relevance of historic fortified architecture.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
