The surface conservation is the architectural pla- ce where the technical horizon and the critical horizon come together. In the case of cultural heritage, the instruments of the project (such as the cleaning and the reintegration procedures) not only follow the laws of applied chemistry but also embrace the horizon of the interpretation and the historical and critical evaluation of the signs of time. Through an aesthetic and technical reading of known cases, chosen trans-chronologically, the surface acts as the place where the relationship with time and history takes on the consistency of matter becoming the place of the project.

Abstract
The surface conservation is the architectural pla- ce where the technical horizon and the critical horizon come together. In the case of cultural heritage, the instruments of the project (such as the cleaning and the reintegration procedures) not only follow the laws of applied chemistry but also embrace the horizon of the interpretation and the historical and critical evaluation of the signs of time. Through an aesthetic and technical reading of known cases, chosen trans-chronologically, the surface acts as the place where the relationship with time and history takes on the consistency of matter becoming the place of the project.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
