Abstract

During the 20th century a lot of artists have sporadically used food as a medium of expression, but a few of them, such as Daniel Spoerri in his Eat Art Gallery, have done it in a really systematic way, thus setting an artistic trend that is still very much alive. There is no doubt that food plays a key role in nowadays experiments in art exhibition and in contemporary art practice. The aim of this article is to illustrate this assumption: in order to do so I will go over some of the more recent art exhibitions reviews, and analyze the exhibitions themselves as a test for my reasoning and an invitation to further reflections.
