Abstract

Play is a profaning act, ca-pable of neutralizing the aura of the sacred, by opening any objects to new possible uses. It features a form of virtuous, differential repetition, thus alternative to the “eternal return of the same” which, besides mythical rituals, also characterizes capitalist modes of production. Precisely because of its ability to oppose these trends, play has become a privileged object in avant-garde architectural research of the last century.
