Trame di moda e geometrie di progetto = Fashion wefts and geometries of design

Il binomio moda e trasformazione inquadra una realtà, tutta attuale, nella quale i soggetti e le pratiche vestimentarie che li caratterizzano sono oggetto di processi di costruzione di identità in continua mutazione. Al centro del dibattito sul fashion design vi è un corpo che dialoga e convive con le tecnologie che lo abitano, queste allo stesso tempo amplificano il ventaglio di forme e possibilità operative che investono sui più avanzati metodi di rappresentazione e prototipazione di capi e accessori, capaci di relazionarsi con inediti materiali. Il saggio riflette sulle modalità di costruzione degli artefatti e dei metodi di sviluppo piano dei cartamodelli utili alla confezione degli abiti e degli accessori, al contempo indaga i principi ispiratori di progetti che si misurano con tracciati costruiti direttamente sui corpi reali, o sui loro cloni digitali. I principali casi studio scelti riguardano il lavoro di fashion designer e direttori creativi che sperimentano le tecnologie digitali sin dalla fase di ideazione, progettazione, confezione e prototipazione, per giungere alla comunicazione dei capi e degli accessori di moda. Un complesso caleidoscopio di forme libere che si adagiano sui corpi in movimento, in intrecci di pattern e geometrie che si fondono con le fisicità dei soggetti e altre volte le negano, a dimostrare come la rappresentazione, in tutte le sue possibili declinazioni, sia predominante nel settore della moda. _____________________________________________________ The combination of fashion and transformation frames a current reality where the subjects and their dressing practices are the objects of processes of a constantly mutating identity building. At the centre of the debate on fashion design there is always a human body which interacts and coexists with the technologies that inhabit it: they, at the same time, amplify the range of forms and operational possibilities based on the most advanced representation methods and prototyping of clothing and accessories, relating to innovative materials. The paper reflects on the modes of construction of the artefacts and on the methods of planar development of patterns, needful for the making of clothes and accessories, and at the same time investigates the inspiring principles of projects that relate with wefts traced directly on real bodies, or on their digital clones. The main case studies here presented concern the work of fashion designers and creative directors who experiment with digital technologies during the ideation, design, pattern making and prototyping phases, up to the visual communication of fashion garments and accessories. A complex kaleidoscope of free forms that fit moving bodies, in patterns and geometries that merge with the physicality of the subjects, and sometimes deny it, demonstrates that representation, in all its knowledge, is crucial in the fashion industry.
