Media architecture: Fellini's Rimini, a town of the imagination

The article addresses the role that Federico Fellini had in transforming the urban imaginary of his hometown, Rimini, into something new. By consulting the general bibliography and through some unpublished sources, the essay places the director between the geocultural poles of multiple identities, between Rimini, Rome and the world of Cinecittà. The director expresses a mediation between the persistence of values ​​​​of the hometown and the normative attitudes known in Rome, in a negotiation process of anthropological and aesthetic tensions. The essay analyzes the impact of this negotiation on the ways of representing Rimini, in films such as "I Vitelloni" or "Amarcord": moments of media expansion created directly by Fellini or born around Fellini, capable of redefining the reputation and the new public image of the native city of the Italian Master.
