The central area of today Warsaw is characterized by a sequence of peripheries. This phenomenon of inversion comes from the total destruction of the city by the Nazis, but unlike other cities devastated by the bombs, Warsaw total destruction is not a war consequence, but a total project, planned before the occupation and accomplished between 1943 and 1944. The uniqueness of this event results from the transformation of an urban center into a Jewish Ghetto, as a symbol of the link between the meaning of urban periphery and segregation as cultural and physical annihilation, what represents a topical element for the European city of today. Abstract

The survival of Ghetto's Ruins in Wola district has a peculiar memorial value, archaeologically recoverable through the architectural design as a research and restituition tool.
