Although is not part of the collective imaginary, the modernity also characterizes the city of Venice. Reinforced concrete and artificial stone take their place among the materials characterizing Venetian architecture, as well as the traditional ones. The contemporary materials require a specific reflection on their preservation in the lagoon environment characterized by marine aerosol and tides, as well as high water phenomena that record, over the years, increasingly higher frequencies of exceptional levels. As part of the project VENEZIA2021, "Scientific research program for a "regulated" lagoon", a testing for reinforced concrete in the lagoon environment has been launched, with the aim of providing information on the development of techniques for preservation and intervention for these specific materials.
