Abstract

Some Geographic Information System (GIS) about Venice and its lagoon from 1990 are described, in order to reflect about their role on knowledge organization. In particular we show an unpublished census of interventions on historical buildings in Venice during the period 1984-2001 by Special Law 794/84 fundings, using some instruments like GIS. We present a technical description and some reflections of the aims of these tools such as the cataloguing of the different ways of interventions and the individuation of the change processes of historical building heritage: we can recognize the trends and their effects on Preservation.
