Review of the exhibition “Il rito segreto. Misteri in Grecia e a Roma“ hel in Rome (Colosseo, July 22 2005-Jenuary 8 2006) and catalogue edited by Angelo Bottini and publiched by Electa. A vast documentary apparatus divided into twelve thematic sections (edited by Nunzio Giustozzi) effectively introduces and reports on the history, diffusion and iconography of mystery rites and cults, from the classical age to the end of the ancient world: in the belt outside, between the beautiful parade of arches of the Amphitheater, twelve didactic panels flow, interspersed with projections and sounds that create a suggestive atmosphere and propose an anthropological breakthrough towards the forms of rituals in the modern and contemporary era; between the columns of the internal ambulatory, on the other hand, selected pieces are exhibited, rare and precious, arranged according to the thematic sequence, in correspondence with the panels.
