Disegnare atmosfere: rifrazione semiotica di una salienza inglobante = Drawing atmospheres: semiotic refraction of an encompassing salience

The topic of "atmospheres" that has exploded in the aesthetological de-bate of the recent decades has the merit of catalysing a verification of the inter-translatability between different theories of meaning and between techniques of analysis in the project-oriented use aimed at testing the facts, thus becoming a concrete field of confrontation between philosophy and design studies. It is a topic that especially concerns the theories and practices of representation and draw-ing. This contribution supports uses of drawing as a tool to explore ad hoc taxonomies – case by case – of spe-cific atmosphere-generating factors. This allows us to reclassify the tech-niques of representation and descrip-tion used in the design process and which today can take advantage of specific tools of artificial intelligence. The terms of the necessary condition for the purpose are indicated with examples: the reference to certain "conventional atmospheres" and the adoption of a point of view somewhat simi-lar to the semiophysical one by René Thom. Il tema delle “atmosfere” esploso nel dibattito estetologico degli ultimi decenni ha il merito di cata-lizzare una verifica dell’inter-traducibilità tra diverse teorie del senso e tra tecniche di analisi nell’uso progettuale alla prova dei fatti, divenendo così un concreto terreno di confronto tra filosofia e design studies. È un tema che concerne in special modo le teorie e le pratiche della rappresentazione e del disegno. Questo contributo sostiene usi del disegno come strumento per esplorare tassonomie ad hoc – caso per caso – di specifici fattori generatori di atmosfera. Ciò consente di riclassificare le tec-niche di rappresentazione e descrizione usate nell’elaborazione progettuale e che oggi possono fare tesoro di specifici strumenti di intelligenza artificiale. Si indica con esempi i termini della condizione necessaria allo scopo: il riferirsi a determinate “atmosfere convenzionali” e l’adozione di un punto di vista in qualche modo assimilabile a quello semiofisico di Réne Thom.
