Традиционная архитектура Пьера Луиджи Нерви и ее популярность в СССР (Tradicionnaya arhitektura Piera Luidzi Nervi i ee populyarnost v SSSR)

The article analyzes the features of the design approach of the famous Italian architect Pier Luigi Nervi. It is proved that the initial engineering education influenced all architectural decisions of Nervi, who used traditional and classical types as the formal basis for concrete structures of the 1930s and 60s. In this sense, P.L. Nervi cannot be considered a modernist architect, since he is primarily interested in «following nature», and not in denying the architectural classics. This approach led to the popularity of P.L. Nervi among Soviet architects during the «thaw».
