This paper describes a theme that has always been debated in specialized studies about architectural perspectives, that is the bond between the sketch of the artwork made by the artist and its transposition – graphical at first, pictorial later - on planar and curved surface. The object of the study will be the quadratura of the vault of the Refectory of the Convent of Trinità dei Monti, Rome, frescoed by Andrea Pozzo. The aim is to compare the mentioned artwork and the treatise by Pozzo himself, finding at the same time the possible elements of contact with the work of J.F. Niceron and Ludovico Cigoli.
