The thesis deals with how literary narrative can be considered an effective resource for the production of knowledge in urban analysis; an analysis that focuses on the effects of socio-spatial transformations. By exploring scientific contributions in the fields of sociology, anthropology and geography, it is highlighted how literary narrative can become a valid support for research. In particular, the contribution of the literary work to the study of everyday life is explored. According to some scholars who have studied everyday life, the latter tells us about the effects of territorial transformations created from economic-political systems. Among these authors, the thesis considers the contribution of Henri Lefebvre as one of the most representative of this current of study. According to Lefebvre, the study of everyday life is able to show us the effects of capitalist territorial transformations. Furthermore, the author himself considers literary narration as the most suitable tool to use for this purpose. In the second part of the thesis a case-study is presented: the Italian North East region; a context characterized, over the last fifty years, by profound spatial and economic-political transformations. We tried to analyze everyday life through reading novels written by local authors. Among the many written in the last twenty years, three authors and some of their works have been selected for the analysis and in particular the ones in which space presents itself as the protagonist of the story and not as a simple background. These authors are Romolo Bugaro, Francesco Maino and Vitaliano Trevisan. The analysis focused on delivering the spatial practices and spaces of representation described by the authors in their works. Regarding practices, they have been divided into: living, working, moving and having fun (going out and consuming). Regarding the spaces of representation, they are those associated with the practices described, in other words, the villetta, the warehouse, the bar and the historic center. The research highlights some directions for future analyses, which concern the study of urban emotions and how they are capable of trasformong urban space and the study of the rhythms of everyday life. The objective of the research is to provide an effective analysis tool to collect information on the effects of transformations, in order to enrich the urban analyst's toolbox and therefore provide orientations both for future research and for the production of tailor-made problem-setting and public policies.
