The paper is focused on the presentation of a research project aimed to design a multisensory environment for people with severe intellectual disabilities called “Snoezelen”, a term of Dutch origin. These environments are characterized by the presence of instruments and equipment that act on the senses and allow people of all ages to be stimulated with reduced or almost no intellectual abilities. In this particular project, the “snoezelen environment” is created with internal components – raised floors, false ceilings, false walls, partition walls, etc. – mainly in wood. The final outcome of the research activities was the construction of a “snoezelen environment” in a primary school in the Veneto Region.

Abstract
The paper is focused on the presentation of a research project aimed to design a multisensory environment for people with severe intellectual disabilities called “Snoezelen”, a term of Dutch origin. These environments are characterized by the presence of instruments and equipment that act on the senses and allow people of all ages to be stimulated with reduced or almost no intellectual abilities. In this particular project, the “snoezelen environment” is created with internal components – raised floors, false ceilings, false walls, partition walls, etc. – mainly in wood. The final outcome of the research activities was the construction of a “snoezelen environment” in a primary school in the Veneto Region.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
