La Venezia del passato, esempio attuale di sostenibilità e resilienza = The Venice of the past, a current example of sustainibility and resilience

With reference to studies carried out, the contribution analyses the series of elements of the construction of the building and urban system of Venice, the canal system, and lagoon hydraulic practices. Common traits are highlighted, such as the quality of construction, the use of reuse and adaptation principles, the prediction of behaviour over time, and the role of maintenance. As an early example of resilience and sustainability, Venice is not only substantially preserved with respect to the territorial, urban and building system, but also still represents a test-bed and a historical model of sustainability and adaptability.
