Micro-businesses are an essential part of the Italian production system and contribute to employment, economic stability and social cohesion. However, they struggle to adapt to the intensified international competition, technological innovation and strategic renewal. This study explores the effectiveness of policies supporting micro-businesses based on services provision intended to encourage business model innovation and market orientation. It focuses on a project, analysed as a case study, developed by a trade association, and privately funded to promote traditional craftsmanship increasing businesses’ competitive potential. The results confirm the effectiveness of this type of intervention, highlighting the association’s role in charge of coordinating and implementing the planned initiatives.
