Abstract

Sant’Angelo delle polveri is one of seventy islands in the Venice lagoon that are now uninhabited for which there are many hypotheses of reuse and redevelopment. But in Sant’Angelo, more than anywhere else, it’s architecture - not economics or politics - that can mark the way for its rebirth. Architecture in its purest form: as an elementary constructive structure, as a device for shaping space and gaze.
