Le Galeazze dell’Arsenale di Venezia tra didattica e opportunità di riuso

The vast complex of the Venice Arsenal has been at the center of public debate for several years, because on the one hand it is of extreme historical importance for the city of Venice, embodying the power and production capacity of the Venetian navy, and on the other hand because its huge spaces and its many architectures require to be preserved and reused, in a logic of actualization of values and fruition for the whole city. Despite the activities of the Biennale, the Venice City Council and the Navy, which have encouraged the establishment of new and different functions in the comple􏰀, about which several studies have been completed, much still remains to be done. The present contribution intends to give an account of the results of a didactic exercise conducted at the Università Iuav di Venezia, carried out on the Galeazze Est, buildings of enormous dimensions in disuse, overlap- ping didactic ob􏰁ectives with the study of different opportunities for reuse, which it is hoped, may stimulate new investments for their complete recovery.
