Abstract

Food systems and food related policies are gaining unprecedented recognition in planning, advocating for more integrated practices: food is both a system subject to contemporary global transformations, and a territorial and urban flow capable of transforming the environment, economy, and society. Moreover, there is a renewed interest in food related bottom up practices, which imposes to take into account issues related to collective forms of knowledge producti on, exchange and extraction. This contribution reflects on the process of designing the Food Atlas of the Venice Lagoon as an attempt to give voice to the multiplicity of stakeholders and to non human agents of the Venice Lagoon. The Atlas calls attention to the existing network of bo ttom up practices while stressing the urgency for an effective food policy for the Venice Lagoon, to test transdisciplinary, integrated methodologies that intersect local human and non human actors and collectively produce food policies in the muds of practice.
