Antonio Negri e i classici. Editoriale di Engramma 221

Engramma no. 221 publishes essays that reflect on Antonio Negri’s thought from different perspectives. The intention is not to produce a hagiography or a memorial eulogy, but to contribute to the process of historicisation and theoretical valorisation of the impressive work of one of the most important Italian philosophers of the second half of the twentieth century. The relationship with the classics cannot be reduced to the tension between past glory and present greyness. On the contrary, it is always and essentially a break with tradition, a rejection of nostalgia. A disenchanted look at the present, certainly, but also a critical questioning, an ontological construction and an ethical hypothesis. Negri constructs a large, complex, heterodox materialist building site in tension with the Classics. The issue focuses on Negri’s relationship to Machiavelli, Spinoza, Kant, Leopardi, Marx, Foucault and, implicitly, Lucretius.
