Il Quartiere Aretusa, realizzato tra il 1956 e il 1961 su progetto di Luigi Piccinato come coordinatore ma con un grande apporto di Daniele Calabi, si colloca tra il concorso di idee preliminari per l’elaborazione del P.R.G. di Venezia del 1956-1957 e la sua approvazione nel 1962. Il quartiere fa parte del più generale progetto di urbanizzazione di San Giuliano-Viale San Marco a Mestre-Venezia, coordinata da Giuseppe Samonà e Luigi Piccinato, e rappresenta l’esito delle riflessioni mature sulle realizzazioni del primo settennio del Piano INA-Casa. Sulla base delle autocritiche a queste prime esperienze infatti vengono avanzate nuove proposte sia nel disegno urbano che nei tipi edilizi. The Aretusa neighborhood was constructed between 1956 and 1961, based on a project coordinated by Luigi Piccinato with significant contributions from Daniele Calabi. It belongs to the period between the competition for preliminary ideas for the drafting of Venice’s General Master Plan (1956–1957) and its approval in 1962. The neighborhood is part of the broader urbanization project for San Giuliano–Viale San Marco in Mestre-Venice. Coordinated by Giuseppe Samonà and Luigi Piccinato, it represents the outcome of mature reflections on the achievements of the first seven years of the INA-Casa Plan. Informed by critical reassessment of these initial experiences, new proposals were introduced in both building typologies and urban design.
