The paper presents the first results of a research project started in 2023 focused on studying routes accessibility in the city of Cortina d’Ampezzo and developing an urban orientation tool. This tool aims to help people understand the organization of spaces and choose routes that best meet their needs and mobility capabilities. Cortina d’Ampezzo faces significant challenges in terms of inclusive accessibility, particularly considering the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympic Games. Architectural barriers and topographical features limit access for people with reduced mobility. This situation requires a concerted effort from authorities, communities, and businesses to create a more inclusive environment. Even more important, it necessitates detailed mapping to highlight obstacles, elevation changes, and pavement types, enabling individuals to identify the best routes for their needs. Today Mobile Mapping Systems, particularly SLAM technology, integrated with well-known urban and territorial surveying methods (photogrammetry, topography, GNSS), plays a significant role in 3D mapping, supporting inclusive accessibility strategy. The result, currently being completed, is a webGIS that will provide users with a useful navigator for planning their movements in the urban center of Cortina. In particular, the application will have to process and make available information regarding the level of usability of routes, urban elevation differences and other types of obstacles present, as well as information regarding the accessibility of buildings of public interest and of major cultural/sports relevance.
