In the multilayered urban complex of Santa Anastasia in Verona, this study focuses on the former Church of San Pietro Martire and the adjacent section of the former Dominican convent, which currently houses the “E. F. Dall’Abaco” Conservatory of Music. The Università Iuav di Venezia is collaborating with various institutional partners, including the local offices of the Ministry of Culture and the Conservatory itself. This research proposes a methodological framework for analysing and conserving buildings embedded within a complex monumental compound. The investigation operates on two complementary levels: geometrical-structural and historical-critical. It combines laser-scanning surveys, non-destructive diagnostic techniques, and the examination of archival sources. The primary objective is to reconstruct causal relationships between functional transformations that followed the convent’s secularisation and the structural vulnerabilities currently observed. This approach has enabled the identification of conservation issues, degradation mechanisms, collapse patterns, and structural interferences resulting from twentieth-century interventions. The research outputs include seismic vulnerability assessments and conservation guidelines, which have supported applications for European funding and guided the design of targeted restoration works. The proposed methodology offers a unified interpretative framework that integrates heterogeneous data derived from multidisciplinary investigative tools. It is designed to be incrementally expanded and serves as a replicable operational model for analysing and conserving historically layered and structurally complex architectural systems.
