L’artigianato artistico come motore di sviluppo territoriale

This study examines the multidimensional role of artistic craftsmanship in territorial development through a scoping review of recent literature. The analysis of 87 selected studies highlights the contribution of artistic craftsmanship in four main areas: the creative economy, local development, social impact, and tourism. The proposed theoretical framework, based on the «local cultural production systems» approach, offers an integrated perspective that considers artistic craftsmanship as a complex ecosystem. The findings reveal how artistic craftsmanship acts as a catalyst for innovation, cultural heritage valorization, urban regeneration, and social cohesion, while also playing a key role in cultural and creative tourism. The study emphasizes the importance of integrated and place-based policies to fully leverage the potential of artistic craftsmanship in sustainable territorial development. It also highlights challenges related to the tension between tradition and innovation and the preservation of cultural authenticity.
