Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is assuming a central role in the AECO industry, supporting automation, workflow optimization, and decision-making. Despite rapid technological advances, the use of AI in design practice remains underexplored, particularly regarding the sociotechnical dynamics that favor or hinder its adoption within BIM processes. This study introduces Actor-Network Theory (ANT) to the field of BIM-AI research, focusing on design firms. The goal is to develop an ANT-based method to guide researchers in analyzing how actor networks can be mobilized to support the implementation of AI in BIM design workflows.
