Abstract
The satisfactory performance of buildings with thermal insulation on the external side of the envelope, as well as the protection requirements from weather actions, lead to the so called “double facades”. These elements include a ventilated gap with positive influence on moisture control and summer heat gains. Inside the gap the bearing structure and window frames are usually present, thus affecting air flows and overall performance of the wall. Therefore, this paper is aimed to obtain a detailed description of air temperature and velocity fields inside the gap, by means of by computational fluid dynamics, suitably accounting for obstruction effects.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
