An investigation into the staging in 1995 of the historic play Orestea (una commedia organica?) by Socìetas Raffaello Sazio and its reenactment in 2015 by Romeo Castellucci interprets the symbolic role of the feminine in the construction of this work and consequently in the interpretation of the genesis and development of western civilisation. A feminine freed from the removal and sacrifice to which the order of representation of western civilisation had forced it, and harbinger of the new forms of expression that belong to the performative dimension of the contemporary arts.

Abstract

An investigation into the staging in 1995 of the historic play Orestea (una commedia organica?) by Socìetas Raffaello Sazio and its reenactment in 2015 by Romeo Castellucci interprets the symbolic role of the feminine in the construction of this work and consequently in the interpretation of the genesis and development of western civilisation. A feminine freed from the removal and sacrifice to which the order of representation of western civilisation had forced it, and harbinger of the new forms of expression that belong to the performative dimension of the contemporary arts.
